London Borough Apprenticeship Awards 2019

Open for nominations!

Nominations for the 2019 London Borough Apprenticeship Awards are now open.

London Councils is seeking entries from every London borough for the London Borough Apprenticeship Awards, to recognise and celebrate the contribution of apprentices to London's local authorities and communities, and the innovative work happening accross London to create new apprenticeships.

This is your opportunity to show the value of apprenticeships to your local authority and also to the contractors that you work with directly, how your staff have contributed to apprentices' success, and how you are maximising the apprenticeships that are created with your contractors and suppliers.

Entries are sought in five categories:

  • Best Contribution by a New Apprentice

This category is for apprentices in their first apprenticeship and recognises the outstanding contribution they have made to their borough in that time.

  • Best Progression by an Apprentice

This category is for apprentices who have completed their first apprenticeship with the council and have moved on to an advanced or higher apprenticeship (Level 3 or above) or into employment. This category is also for existing council staff that have progressed onto an apprenticeship and recognises the achievement of staff using an apprenticeship to progress their career.

  • Best Manager or Mentor

This category is for the most inspirational, hard-working, supportive or creative manager or mentor within the council. Nominations must include a quote or evidence from at least one apprentice that has been mentored/managed.

  • Supply Chain Apprentice of the Year

This category is for outstanding contribution or progression by an Apprentice working in a partner to the borough.

  • Best Work with Supply Chains and/or Local Businesses to Create New Apprenticeships

This is an award for the local authority that has undertaken the best work with contractors and local businesses to get them to commit to creating apprenticeships in their workforce.

An additional award - London Councils' Apprentice of the Year - will be awarded to one of the shortlisted nominees in categories one and two. You can find out more about the winners of last year's Apprenticeship Awards here.

Applications open on 26th June and will be accepted up to 5pm on 26th July 2019. Winners will be announced at a London Councils event on the Tuesday 3rd September.
