The Mayor's draft London Plan 2017 sets out an ambitious vision to meet the challenges of continued population growth. The draft Plan is far more radical than previous iterations and its policies are more prescriptive. If the policies set out within the plan are implemented as currently set out, there will be significant changes to the way that the planning system functions in London.
London’s boroughs broadly support the ambitions and direction of travel of the draft Plan. Boroughs are keen to work effectively with the Greater London Authority (GLA) to designate clear roles and responsibilities, especially around ensuring housing growth for a growing population and the provision of supporting infrastructure.
