Cllr Julian Bell, Chair of London Councils’ Transport and Environment Committee, said:
“The LIP funding announced in the latest Business Plan has no new reductions and provides some welcome certainty on future funding for boroughs, however more can be done.
“London boroughs still lack the resources needed to deliver an ambitious transport strategy and improved conditions for London’s highways.
“Vehicle Excise Duty raised from London drivers is currently not available for transport investment in the capital by devolving these funds it may be able to bridge part of the funding gap. London Councils will continue to make this case alongside the Mayor to central Government going forward.”
