London's Growth Deal

London’s Growth Deal, announced on 7 July 2014 offered new freedoms and flexibilities focused on three keys areas: building London’s Skills base; helping Londoners into sustainable employment; and, improving housing supply.

A Growth Deal for London

The Deal included proposals to develop a time-limited pilot for a locally-led employment support service targeted at those furthest from work; a digital skills pilot; new incentives to encourage the take-up of apprenticeships; and, the potential transfer of strategic land holdings to London government to promote economic growth and housing development. It follows months of joint work between London Councils, the Mayor and the London Enterprise Panel and marks a significant step towards greater devolution to London.
