The Education Secretary, Gavin Williamson, has confirmed that Maintained Nursery Schools will receive additional funding in 2020/21 and announced new hourly rates for free childcare places. Cllr Nickie Aiken

In response Cllr Nickie Aiken, London Councils’ Executive member for Schools and Children’s Services, said:

“Maintained Nursery Schools run by councils are beacons of early years education. It is good news that they will continue to receive extra funding in 2020/21, as we must make sure there are enough high quality nursery places for eligible children in the capital, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.

“We look forward to seeing Government’s long-term plans for early years education soon – getting this right will be vital to the next generation of young Londoners.”
