Responding to the Fawcett Society report, Cllr Claire Kober OBE, Chair of London Councils said:

“This report reveals the uncomfortable truth about the representation of women in local government. With a quarter of London council leaders being female, compared to an eighth in some other areas, I am pleased that we are leading the way. But this is still not good enough. With borough elections taking place next year, it is vital that every effort is made to address the issues raised by this study and encourage more women to stand. We make up half the population; it’s time our town halls reflected that.”
