London Councils, the cross-party group that represents the 32 London boroughs and the City of London Corporation, has appointed two borough leaders to senior roles on its Executive.

Cllr Georgia Gould, Leader of Camden Council, has been appointed Deputy Chair of London Councils. She continues in her role as Executive member for Skills and Employment.

Cllr Jas Athwal, Leader of Redbridge Council, has been appointed Executive member for Crime and Public Protection.

Cllr Peter John OBE, Chair of London Councils, said:

“I am delighted that Georgia is moving into the Deputy Chair role and to welcome Jas to London Councils’ Executive.

“Georgia is doing an excellent job as Leader of Camden Council and has already made her mark at a pan-London level in her Executive role. I look forward to working with her as my Deputy Chair.

“Jas brings a wealth of experience to the table as Leader of Redbridge Council and I know he cares deeply about borough work to reduce youth violence and improve public perception of safety.”
