Traffic Management Act 2004 Statutory guide

  • By admin

The provisions in Part 6  of the Traffic Management Act 2004 gives the Government the power to introduce a new framework for the enforcement of parking, bus lanes, certain moving traffic matters and the London lorry ban.

They build on and strengthen the successful civil enforcement regime introduced by the Road Traffic Act 1991, the Transport Act 2000 and existing London specific legislation. The parking provisions came into force on 31 March 2008.  None of the other provisions have been brought into force.

The regulations and guidance framework for local authorities is set out on the Department of Transport website.
