The future of young Londoners from disadvantaged backgrounds could be adversely affected by a major funding cut to further education budgets, London Councils is warning.
The organisation, which represents all 32 London boroughs and the City of London, is concerned that the government’s decision to cut funding for all full-time 18-year-old students by 17.5 per cent will have a damaging impact on programmes of study for young people who need more time to study or train.

The London Counter Fraud Hub is a pan-London data exchange to ensure local authorities are making maximum use of their own records to fight fraud such as procurement deception, council tax evasion and illegal council housing tenancy sub-lets.
The hub matches LA’s data with records held throughout the capital to prevent fraud and identify losses for investigation and recovery.
DLR to permit Bicycles off-peak
Bikes will be allowed on Docklands Light Rail (DLR) services at off-peak times, following a successful trial.
Previously, only folding bicycles were permitted, but a trial running since July has proved a success. The move will help those who wish to cycle for part of their journey, and give cyclists extra flexibility.
